Mortal Shell 2 Where to Go First

Fainweald opens up and gives you no direction. This is the order that unblocks the most systems in the least time.

011. Finish the prologue with your gear

After the Festival, speak to the Undermether. You receive the Iconoclast one-handed sword and the Naylshotte sidearm — two of the game's sixteen gear pieces.

You also pick up the Untarnished Seal, which lets you block, and Vatra's Seal, which gives you Harden. Do not leave the prologue without understanding what each does.

022. Claim Tiel — the free shell

Tiel is buried in a shallow grave near the Mushroom Village and Widow's Overlook area. There is no boss and no quest in front of him, which makes him the only shell you can take purely by walking there.

Getting out of the starting body and into a shell you can invest in is the single biggest early power spike.

033. Cleanse the nearby beacons

Widow's Overlook is already cleansed when you arrive, so it costs nothing as a travel anchor. Work outward from there.

Cleansing means clearing a mini dungeon and claiming an Ova at the end, so treat each beacon as a short run rather than a checkpoint tap.

044. Go to Marrow Keep for the parry

Marrow Keep is the hub: the Tarforge for upgrades, Franz for tarstones, Merrick's shop, and Sester Genessa.

Genessa hands you the Infinite Seal, which unlocks parrying. Until you have it you are playing with two thirds of your defensive kit.

055. Then start farming deliberately

Once you can parry, head to Gloomshade Grove with the Gloombound Stone equipped. Four Grisha Hunters give roughly 1,000+ Gloom every 30 seconds, which funds your first real upgrades.
