01Equip this before you farm anything
Always put on the Gloombound Stone tarstone before a farming run. It increases Gloom per kill, and its potency can itself be upgraded at the Tarforge using Etching Needles.
Night Mode adds a further 20% to Gloom gains. It also makes enemies more dangerous, so it is a trade rather than a free bonus — worth it on farms you can already clear comfortably.
02Best early spot — Gloomshade Grove
Four Grisha Hunters sit close enough together to be cleared as one loop, paying out around 1,000+ Gloom every 30 seconds. That is the strongest early rate anyone has verified.
03Early alternative — the sheep pen
Across the bridge near the Sunken Village beacon there is a sheep pen that works as a decent early-game farm. You need to beat the optional boss The Wandering Shepherd first.
It is slower than Gloomshade Grove but useful if you are already in the area or find the Grisha Hunters awkward at your level.
04Late-game — the Emberseed loop
One elite enemy, one setup: equip the shotgun sidearm with an Emberseed Stone tarstone. Land three rapid blasts, then let Burn damage finish the kill. That is roughly 2,000 Gloom per cycle.
It needs a specific sidearm and stone combination, which is why it is a late option rather than something you can lean on from Fainweald.
05Quick comparison
| Spot | Stage | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Gloomshade Grove | Early | ~1,000+ per 30s |
| Sheep pen, Sunken Village | Early | Decent; needs Wandering Shepherd dead |
| Emberseed elite loop | Late | ~2,000 per kill |
